We’re Here When It Matters Most.
Animal emergencies can happen at any hour, and Animal Clinic of Glasgow is built to respond. During our regular business hours, we see emergencies on a walk-in, triage basis — no appointment needed. If you can, call us at (270) 651-2154 before you head in so our team can prepare for your arrival. After hours, our on-call team remains available for food animal and large animal emergencies.
If your dog or cat experiences an emergency outside of our regular hours, please contact Bowling Green Veterinary Emergency Clinic at (270) 715-5600, located at 760 Campbell Lane, Suite 100, Bowling Green, KY 42104. Whatever the situation and whatever the hour, you won’t be left without a next step.
When to Seek Emergency Veterinary Care
Not every health concern is an emergency, but when it is, acting quickly can make all the difference. You should seek emergency care if your pet is experiencing difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, seizures, collapse or sudden inability to stand, suspected poisoning, trauma from a car accident or fall, a bloated or distended abdomen (especially in large-breed dogs), straining to urinate with no output, or loss of consciousness. For large animals, additional warning signs include colic, labored breathing, severe lameness, or any sudden and dramatic change in behavior or condition. When in doubt, call us. We’d always rather hear from you and help you assess the situation over the phone than have you wait and wonder.
What to Expect When You Arrive
When you arrive with an animal in crisis, our team will assess their condition quickly and calmly using a triage approach — the same system used in human emergency rooms. The most critical, life-threatening cases are seen first, regardless of arrival time. We know that can be hard to experience when you’re worried about your own animal, but this system exists to protect every patient in our care — including yours. If your animal were the one in the most critical condition, you’d want the same priority, and we’d give it without hesitation.
Emergency Veterinary Services We Provide
Our emergency capabilities include triage and stabilization, oxygen support, IV fluid therapy, emergency surgery, wound management, pain control, toxicity treatment, diagnostic imaging, in-house bloodwork, and monitoring for critical patients. For cases that require overnight hospitalization, specialized surgery, or around-the-clock monitoring beyond our on-site capabilities, we’ll stabilize your animal and help coordinate next steps — and we’ll stay in communication throughout.
Pet Poison Emergencies
If you suspect your pet has ingested something toxic — chocolate, xylitol, medications, household chemicals, certain plants, rodent bait, or anything you’re unsure about — time is critical. Call us immediately at (270) 651-2154 and, if possible, bring the packaging or product information with you. You can also contact the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 for immediate 24/7 guidance. Please note that a consultation fee does apply.

Prepared for the Moments That Matter Most.

Our job in those moments is to be the calm in the storm — to respond quickly, communicate clearly, and give your animal the best possible chance at a good outcome. We hope you never need this page. But if you do, we’re ready — any time of day.
